Standard tuning. Position 1 has the root note on the low E string, like most charts. Positions 2 to 5 follow up the neck. Orange dots are the root. The five boxes follow the CAGED system, so a scale and its relative scale share the same boxes.
Tap a string to hear it, then tune yours to match.

How do I read a chord?
Finger (1 = index)
Root note
Open or muted string
Barre
Tap any chord to hear it.
A number like 3fr beside the top fret means the shape sits higher up the neck.
What notes are in a chord?
A chord is a few notes played together. The basic three are the root (the chord's name), the 3rd and the 5th.
C major is C, E and G. Lower the 3rd by a half step and you get C minor: C, E♭, G.
Add a 7th on top and you get a 7th chord, like C7: C, E, G, B♭.
Every section on the Chords tab shows its recipe at the top, like 1 · 3 · 5. The 1 is the root.
How does the tuner work?
Open the Tuner tab, tap Start live tuner and allow the mic.
Pluck one string. The needle shows flat or sharp.
Needle left: tighten. Needle right: loosen. Green means in tune.
Start with the low E and work up.
Pro tip: a 12th-fret harmonic counts as the same string.
How do I use the Scales tab?
Pick a key and a scale. The notes appear underneath.
Tap a position, 1 to 5, to see one box on the neck. Position 1 has the root on the low E string. Orange dots are the root.
Press Play to hear it up and back down.
What does a capo do?
Capo
A capo clamps across the neck and raises every string by the same amount, so the same shapes sound higher.
On the Chords tab, tap Capo and pick a fret.
The big name is what you hear. The small orange name is the shape your fingers make.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Add it to your phone once, with signal, and it works with none.
iPhone: open this page in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
Android: in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu, then Install app (or Add to Home screen).
Open it from the new icon. The chords, capo and tuner all work offline. Only feedback needs the internet.
Updates arrive on their own the next time you open it online.
